During the summer and autumn, 2006, the Fund "Jiezno vaikai" has equipped a new library- leisure centre in Jieznas children foster home. 

 

The new library is a place where children can read books and newspapers, play various table games which are stimulating their thinking, as well as communicate with each other.

The official opening of the library was made on December 9, during the Open Day in Jieznas children foster home. 

 

The old library was situated in the cellar, where the lack of light was evident. There was no place for reading in it, so children couldn‘t spend more time with books.

The librarian didn‘t have any computer, so books and the readers were being registered into the notebook. Because of that the process of finding books was more complicated, and the analysis of children‘ reading was impossible.

 

A new library is equipped in a light premises that cover 58,72 square metres.

 

The works of library equipment:

- Windows were changed;

- There was made a total reconstruction of the premises;

- New furniture was bought: shelves, soft furnishing, a stand for the magazines, a table and a chair for the librarian;

- The librarian got a new computer with special programs. She was also instructed how to use it.

 

The equipment of the new library- leisure centre is the biggest project made by the Fund "Jiezno vaikai" in 2006.
